Located at 1001 NW 5th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601, lowbar coffee operates as a cafe serving Gainesville in Florida. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8 amβ3 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 128 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded cafes & coffee in Gainesville.
Gainesville is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Gainesville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The coffee is absolutely top notch. They serve Resident, the coffee tastes fresh, the recipes are dialed in. The pastries are also so so good, with a good mix of a few savory items thrown in. The service is friendly and fun. There is very little seating and not a ton of tabletop space or outlets for people who want to work -- just fyi, not a negative! It's a very cool, laid back spot to spend some time.

Lowbar is definitely a little hole-in-the-wall spot. When I parked, I honestly thought Apple Maps brought me to the wrong place at first. Itβs located inside a cute yellow building with Bushel & Peck and has a few tables inside. The menu had a lot of coffee options, but I mainly came for their summer matcha menu. They didnβt have any pastries when I went so I definitely want to try next time. I ordered the Earl Grey Matcha Capp. For some reason I thought it would come with a cream top, but it was still really good while on the smaller side. The matcha had a nice bright color and tasted super creamy and smooth with the oat milk. The Earl Grey flavor was very subtle, but worked well with the drink. Cute little spot and Iβd come back to try more of their menu.

Low bar Coffee is a nice little coffee shop located in old Gainesville at the crossroads of a single blinking light. Nice atmosphere and amazing coffee. I am a very picky coffee drinker, my favorite is the Orange Cream latte with Oatmilk iced. Itβs like heaven in a cup! 10/10 always and I go in everyday they are open. Pastries are also delish from Bushel and Peck. gf oatmeal cookies are so delish and so are the cinnamon rolls, buns and pretzels. Cafe is always clean and at a nice temperature. Do yourself a favor and stop by for a great coffee however you like it!

I was the first customer in the door when they opened, and I felt like they were thrilled to see me. Super friendly, and door delish. One of the best cappuccinos Iβve had in a while. The βpain au chocolateβ was with pretzel, not croissant. It was delightful. Itβs small, so donβt plan to spend a lot of time there unless you are lucky, but Iβd totally stop in again. 10/10 would recommend.

So great to see tons of community support for opening weekend! My latte was exquisite (they use Resident beansβthe best!) and the cinnamon sugar pretzel was light, fluffy, and just the right amount of sweet. The space has a low key + cozy vibe that fits in so well with the buildingβs history. Wonderful addition to this part of Gainesville, canβt wait to check it out again!
